Good ruby-red. Inviting aromas of currant, leather and smoky, nutty oak, plus a suggestion of berry liqueur. Dense, broad and backward, with extremely primary, medicinal berry flavors and an impression of brooding power. The clenched flavors are perked up by a note of blood orange. Finishes with building, youthfully tough tannins that call for a decade of patience. The sweetness of the fruit, however, manages to balance the rather pugnacious tannins.
